CONCENCAO is a concentrate made from the nutrient-rich shells that surround the cocoa bean after it is roasted to make chocolate or chocolate-like products. CONCENCAO is sweetened with cocoa fruit juice.
Cocoa bean shells (also known as hulls or husks) are one of the main by-products from the transformation of cocoa beans. Cocoa bean shells are a source of nutrients and other compounds, such as fiber, cocoa volatile compounds, proteins, minerals, vitamins, and a large spectrum of polyphenols (which have a strong antioxidant properties and suppress oxidation).
